Bears, primates, frogs, horses, rhinoceros … sculptures, a veritable army composed of several hundred are all there, or almost. Rooted to the spot and yet bursting with life, they seem to be looking in one and the same direction. Eyes fixed on their creator, it is as though they are waiting for a new animal form to spring forth.

He was born in 1948 and live in Nantes since 1971.

Son of an artist and a scientist, Michel BASSOMPIERRE drew a link between the two by enrolling at Rouen Art School to learn sculpture and regularly visiting the Natural Science Museum and Vincennes Zoo. In  order to understand the bearing architecture and proportions of his preferred subject, the student decided to increas his knowledges of animal anatomy, of the skeleton and muscles.
