Jean GRISOT

Born in 1955, Jean GRISOT works and lives in Coursegoules, in the South of France. He likes to paint the relaxing atmosphere of the beach where his eyes catch little moment of emotions: a mother playing with her child under a beach-umbrella, a little girl picking up shells. His brush catches those instant, its unexpected atmosphere and its surprising expressions. The mysterious glance of a girl, the thoughtful walkof another…

His subjects are dealt with a significant reduction of the chromatic scale: GRISOT’s work is stirring with realism. Influenced by the Nabis, Jean GRISOT works with the blending and the transparency of the complementary colors that he carefully and elegantly applies on the linen canvas. Jean GRISOT uses anamorphosis to underline the dramatic side of the subject he deals with. His palette is rich on yellow, dark purple, iron oxides that combine together to emphasize lights and shadows interplay.
